Liddy’s Solicitors is a specialist in handling personal injury claims and has successfully recovered damages for many clients who suffered head injuries in accidents that were not their fault.

Head injuries can vary in severity from bruising to the skin to a serious brain injury, which can be caused through an accident at work or in a road accident, for example.

Depending on the severity of your head injury, your life can be affected in many ways and if you were unfortunate enough to have been seriously hurt, you may have found that the consequences were life changing.

If someone else’s negligence was wholly or partly to blame for the accident in which you suffered a head injury, Liddy’s specialist personal injury team can help you to make a compensation claim. Your first step is to contact us with the details of how and where your head injury occurred and how severe your injury is.

Types of Head Injury

A head injury is any type of damage that results in an injury to the scalp, skull or brain. Visible wounds are an obvious indication of head injury, however it is important that any forceful contact with the head is investigated to determine if an injury not readily visible has been sustained. Symptoms can develop very easily, so it is important to monitor them to make sure that they don’t develop into something more serious.

There are 3 main types of head injury:

Open: An open head injury relates to the skull breaking through to the brain but this doesn’t necessarily include injury to the brain. This type of head injury normally occurs when pressure is applied to the head which is forceful enough to cause a fracture or displacement of the skull.
Closed: This type of head injury refers to a head injury that doesn’t affect the skull’s structure and it does not fracture.
Concussion: This is the least serious and also the most common type of head injury. If you think you have suffered a concussion, it is very important to monitor the symptoms and any deterioration in the level of response can indicate compression of the brain and lead to a more severe brain injury.

Can I claim compensation for my head injury?

If you suffered your head injury in an accident that was caused by someone else’s negligence, you can claim compensation for your injuries and associated costs, such as loss of earnings, private medical treatment and ongoing care.

In addition to seeking financial payments for your suffering, loss of earnings and to cover expenses related to your injuries, we will help to organise the best possible treatment. We have close relationships with a number of excellent rehabilitation specialists, chiropractors, neurological physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and where appropriate can arrange assessments by independent medical experts.

Your solicitor will help you to demonstrate that the other party was negligent, organise the best possible medical treatment, deal with all the paperwork and calculate the damages to help ensure you receive all the money you are entitled to.
