Misdiagnosis of sepsis results in death, family awarded £150,000

Published: 18th December 2021

We acted for the family of a man who was admitted to Pinderfields hospital with suspected urinary tract infection. He was in fact suffering from sepsis, but this was not diagnosed and as a result he died in hospital.

The trust admitted liability. He left behind him a dependent partner and daughter.

As a result of his death, the family lost not just a partner and father, but his income. He would have survived some years longer and so the family claimed for that loss of earnings as well as various other losses.

The claim was settled for £150,000.
