Gynaecological Pain Mismanaged, Client Awarded £15,000

Published: 10th July 2024

We were consulted by a 32-year-old woman who as a result of an admitted prescribing error for gynaecological pain was prescribed around 60 mg of Codeine for a 6-month period between December 2020 and June 2021. Codeine is highly addictive and should be prescribed with a warning it is for short term use only. This led to her becoming dependent and unable to cope without it. She suffered significant symptoms during the period and during the period of withdrawal from the drug.

The Claimant accepted an offer from the Defendant at £15,000 on 13th February 2024.
