Pain increased by surgery, patient received £34,000 damages

Published: 8th October 2018

We settled a claim brought by our Client who was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome.

The treatment entails an operation to relieve the pressure on the median nerve in their wrist. However, the surgeon did the operation incorrectly such that the pressure was in fact increased on the median nerve. As a result, the claimant had 18 months of pain before the operation was revised.

As a result of the pain, the claimant was out of work for a considerable amount of time.

The case went to trial and the judge found in favour of her. She received damages of £34,000.00.
