Patient with implant punctured during surgery awarded £25,000.00

Published: 7th August 2018

We settled a claim on behalf of a client who had a breast enlargement operation where the breast implant had negligently been punctured by the surgeon during the operation. Over the next 6 months, the breast deflated and became painful.

As a result, the claimant had to undergo a further breast operation to replace the punctured implant.

Proceedings were issued against the surgeon personally because he was self-employed rather than being employed by the Hospital. Unfortunately, he had emigrated.

Liability was denied but the case was settled for £25,000.00.
